Ashtanga
Ashtanga Yoga is the name given to the system of yoga taught by its creator Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures-a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. If you like structure, this class is for you. Students will follow a series of postures in a precise order. A good understanding of the poses is highly recommended.
Open Yoga
This class is open to students in all levels. Class will be taught in a manner that reflects the experience of those who attend that day. Expect to participate in sun salutations, a more flowing practice, inversions, lots of stretching and anything else that comes to mind. Class will gently peak with light cardio. Come have fun and learn something new about your body in this playful class.
Gentle Yoga
Super safe class for people of all ages and levels. Lots of stretching and work on increasing flexibility. Slight moderation of heart rate, use of many props, including chairs if needed, and breath work. Good place to start, and also a wonderful class for those that may be healing from or that have endured injury or trauma.
Pilates
If you want to improve posture and functional strength, increase the core "powerhouse," develope long and lean musculature without equipment and personal attention - Then Pilates is the class for you! Please call (417)882-3739 or email Pam Morris more information.
Meditation
We will sit in meditation for thirty minutes followed by fifteen minutes of walking meditation. Instructions are given prior to sitting meditation and walking meditation. Dipa then gives a presentation of the Buddha's teaching, followed by questions and comments from the group. We conclude the program by 11:15 am. For more information contact Dipa or check out the BOWSGroup web site.
